New Zealand Post Limited, like a number of other postal organisations, is facing unprecedented commercial challenges particularly in the traditional mail operations. In response to these challenges New Zealand Post is undertaking a strategic review of all parts of the business.
Transend is New Zealand Post’s international postal consultancy, IT solutions and equipment sales division.
New Zealand Post is seeking opportunities in areas that are better aligned to our current strategic focus. Given the current commercial environment and the very challenging international postal consultancy market, the Board and Executive Leadership Team of New Zealand Post have made the difficult decision to close Transend as of 30 June 2011.
This decision has not been an easy one to make but in the context of the challenges our industry faces we believe it is the correct decision. We very much value the relationships Transend and New Zealand Post have developed over the past 19 years with a wide and diverse range of postal organisations and postal stakeholders throughout the world.
Although Transend has closed, New Zealand Post’s International business remains critical to its growth plan for the future and we remain committed to the international postal community. Going forward, New Zealand Post will continue to play an active role in the a number of international postal bodies, including the Universal Postal Union (UPU), Asia Pacific Postal Union (APPU), International Post Corporation (IPC) and the Conference of Commonwealth Postal Administrations (CCPA).
